It was late Friday afternoon when we arrived at our hotel . The Novotel was in the old quarters at the eastern end of the harbour where the friendly staff gave us a two linked harbour view rooms on one of the top floors.

After a quick stop to freshen up, eat a slice of Tony's birthday cake and open his birthday presents it was out on the town for the evening. A gloriously ancient tram rattled us into downtown Hong Kong where a short walk took us to the Peak Tram which climbs spectacularly up the side of Victoria Peak for one of the finest city views in the world. After much Ooohing and Aaahing at the views while darkness fell and the city lit up, we repaired to Cafe Deco for dinner, followed by a little shopping and back for bed. Not before a stop for a nightcap and view from the hotel bar
